On May 8, 2025, the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) published Joint Normative Instruction FURG No. 7, which establishes mandatory guidelines for reporting and registering the admission of foreign nationals engaged in any activity at the university.
The regulation, signed by the Pro-Rectory of Undergraduate Studies, the Pro-Rectory of Research and Graduate Studies, and the Office for International Affairs (REINTER), aims to ensure institutional oversight, legal security, and appropriate reception of these visitors. According to the document, all cases of foreign nationals entering FURG must be reported to REINTER, regardless of the type of affiliation with the university.
This requirement applies to regular undergraduate and graduate students, exchange students, researchers, academic guests, interns, volunteers, and visiting professors. Both new arrivals and foreigners already at FURG must submit their information via the designated form. The responsibility lies with the program coordinator or the faculty member hosting the foreign visitor, including those not affiliated with regular academic programs.
Information must be submitted via the electronic form available on REINTER’s website, at least 15 days prior to the foreign visitor’s arrival.
