International Agreements
International agreements represent an important strategy to expand the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG)'s presence on the global stage. This goal is included in the Institutional Development Plan (PDI) 2024-2028, specifically in Axes I - Teaching, II - Research, and XIV – Governance, Risks, and Integrity, under Objective 3, which proposes the strategies to "Enhance FURG's institutional image internationally" and "Expand FURG's level of internationalization." The regulation of agreements follows the JOINT NORMATIVE INSTRUCTION PROPLAD/PROGRAD/PROEXC/PROITI/PROPESP/FURG No. 1, dated 12/2022.
The Secretariat of International Relations (REINTER) has the mission to promote FURG’s internationalization processes by supporting international cooperation and academic mobility activities. Through institutional agreements, REINTER establishes partnerships with foreign teaching and research institutions, facilitating opportunities for exchange and academic collaboration. The agreements signed are valid for five years and may be renewed according to the interests of the parties involved.
To formalize these partnerships, specific legal instruments (drafts) are used to regulate the planned actions. Cooperation Agreements allow for bilateral or multilateral academic partnerships, student mobility, joint research, events, double degree programs, laboratory sharing, among others.
