Universidad Santo Tomás (UST), in Chile, has opened the official call for free virtual Spanish courses for the first semester of 2026, aimed exclusively at students from partner universities located in non-Spanish-speaking countries.
The courses are intended for students without Spanish proficiency, and no prior knowledge of the language is required. A B1 level of English is recommended, but not mandatory.
Synchronous classes will take place twice a week, from March 16 to July 24, 2026 (dates subject to change). Starting April 4, 2026, Chilean time will move one hour back (UTC-4) due to daylight saving time. Participation requires a minimum attendance of 75%, and attendance during the first week is mandatory. Students who do not attend during this period will be automatically removed to make room for the waiting list.
Information such as available courses and class schedules can be found in the Official Call for Applications.
Attention: the courses Basic 2 and Intermediate 1 are intended for students who completed Basic Spanish 1 and Basic Spanish 1 and 2, respectively, at UST in the previous semester or year.
