The British Embassy in Brazil announces the opening of a new application cycle for the Chevening Programme, a global initiative by the UK government aimed at training future leaders with high potential for impact in their areas of expertise. Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle will be open from August 5 to October 7, 2025, via the official website www.chevening.org.
Chevening offers fully funded scholarships for one-year master’s degrees at any university in the UK, covering all fields of study. The scholarship includes full tuition fees, round-trip airfare, a monthly stipend for housing and living expenses, and additional allowances such as visa costs, tuberculosis testing (if required), and travel to official events. During their studies, scholars also participate in an extensive networking programme, including lectures, events, and access to a global alumni community of over 60,000 people across more than 160 countries.
To apply, candidates must be Brazilian citizens (or from another eligible country), have completed higher education, and possess at least two years of professional experience, which may include formal employment, internships, or volunteer work, totaling 2,800 verified hours. Applicants must also demonstrate leadership skills, a commitment to return to their home country for at least two years after graduation, and a clear plan for how they intend to create a positive impact in their field or community.
The selection process includes an initial eligibility screening, evaluation by independent committees, and interviews conducted by the British Embassy. One of the most valued criteria is the clarity of the applicant's career goals and how the knowledge gained in the UK will be applied in impactful projects back home. Candidates must select up to three eligible master's courses and secure at least one unconditional offer by July 2026, the final deadline for documentation. Classes begin between September and October of the same year.
