REINTER initiative created a space for international students to share their cultures with the community.
Last Friday (January 30), the “A FURG é Minha Praia” space hosted REINTER on the Beach, an event organized by the International Relations Office (REINTER) of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). The event brought together the REINTER team, students, and the general public for an evening of cultural exchange, music, and integration.

The program highlighted the internationalization of FURG, creating an opportunity for international students to represent and share elements of their cultures with the local community. One of the highlights of the event was the participation of a group of students from Timor-Leste, a country in Southeast Asia.
Timorese students Deoteria Silva, Caitano Soares, Guilhermino Santos and Jenilton Ramelito present a cultural exhibition during REINTER on the Beach.
The students presented traditional clothing, fabrics, and cultural objects from their home country. In addition to the cultural exhibition, the event featured live voice and acoustic guitar by musician Maurício Terra, helping create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for people passing along the avenue.
Brazilian students selected for international mobility programs also attended the event, including Murilo Barcelos and Gabriel Calgaro, who were recently selected for the ESCALA 2026/1 mobility program of AUGM.

REINTER on the Beach reinforces FURG’s commitment to internationalization as an everyday practice within the university, valuing not only institutional agreements but especially the human experiences that arise from intercultural encounters. By occupying a symbolic university community space, the event highlighted the importance of making the presence and contributions of international students visible in the daily life of the institution.
