FURG signs Cooperation Agreement with Shanghai Ocean University

The Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) signed, on December 3, an important Academic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation Agreement with Shanghai Ocean University, China. The agreement aims to strengthen ties between Brazil and China and promote the integration of teaching, research, and innovation activities between the two institutions.

With a validity of five years, renewable upon agreement of the parties, the partnership foresees broad collaboration in all areas of knowledge of mutual interest. Planned actions include the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, researchers, and administrative staff, with mutual recognition of academic credits. The institutions will also develop joint programs that may lead to dual degrees, in addition to cooperating in the development of research projects, including the search for international funding.

The partnership also includes the joint organization of scientific events, such as seminars, lectures, and symposia, the sharing of laboratory and bibliographic resources, and the creation of a joint database for international internships.

This initiative reinforces FURG’s commitment to internationalization and knowledge production in partnership with globally recognized institutions, opening new opportunities for academic mobility, collaborative research, and technological and cultural development within their academic communities.
