FURG’s Secretary for International Relations participates in AUGM Delegates Advisors Group meeting in Argentina

On August 12 and 13, 2025, the Secretary for International Relations took part in the meeting of the Delegates Advisors Group of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities (AUGM), hosted by the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Santa Fe, Argentina. The event gathered representatives from the 51 member institutions of the network to discuss the work agenda for the upcoming biennium (2026–2027), in preparation for the Council of Rectors, scheduled for November in Paraguay.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the formal admission of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) as a full member of AUGM. Discussions also covered new cooperation agreements with national and international organizations, such as CAPES and CNPq, in addition to collaborations with the Ibero-American Association of Postgraduate Universities.

The delegates also advanced strategic proposals in the fields of graduate studies, science, and innovation, including the creation of joint PhD supervision programs, postdoctoral opportunities, and joint degrees among member universities. Another highlight was the partnership under development with FAO, aimed at offering training in areas of shared interest.

FURG’s representation in an event of this magnitude strengthens the university’s ties within the network. By taking part in strategic discussions, the institution contributes to reinforcing academic, scientific, and technological cooperation among AUGM member countries, while broadening opportunities for collaboration.
