Event brought together around 180 representatives from universities and governments of both countries to expand partnerships
On Tuesday, June 3rd, the Secretary for International Relations, Dariano Krummenauer, and the Rector of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), Suzane Gonçalves, participated in the Brazil-China University Presidents’ Forum. The event was organized by Brazil’s Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) in partnership with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE).
Held at CAPES headquarters in Brasília, the forum brought together around 180 representatives from higher education institutions and government agencies from both countries. The goal of the event was to strengthen academic relations between Brazil and China, focusing on cooperation in scientific research, human resource development, and educational exchange.
During the forum, strategies were discussed to expand institutional partnerships, student mobility programs, and joint research projects in areas strategic to sustainable and technological development.
According to Secretary Krummenauer, there is mutual interest between the two nations in deepening cooperation in higher education. China is currently one of Brazil’s major international partners, even offering Portuguese language programs at several Chinese universities. For Krummenauer, the forum was a key moment to foster new opportunities and reinforce bilateral collaboration.
