FURG renews partnership with Universidad de la República, Uruguay

On Tuesday (24), the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) renewed its partnership with the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), from Uruguay, through a comprehensive Academic Cooperation Agreement. The document establishes the foundations for the development of joint activities between the two institutions.

Valid for five years, with the possibility of renewal, the agreement aims to integrate research activities and programs of mutual interest at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The partnership will benefit all areas of knowledge, promoting a wide range of initiatives.

Among the planned actions are the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, researchers, and administrative staff, collaboration in teaching, research, extension, and technological innovation projects, joint participation in scientific and cultural events, development of dual degree programs, co-supervision of master’s dissertations and doctoral theses, as well as the exchange of bibliographic materials and the sharing of laboratory infrastructure.

The renewal of the agreement reinforces FURG’s commitment to internationalization and to building academic networks in Latin America, expanding opportunities for training, scientific production, and cultural exchange. By strengthening its ties with UdelaR, the university reaffirms its role in promoting high-quality public education connected to regional challenges and global demands.
