Visit reinforces academic ties between FURG and the United States, paving the way for new cooperation opportunities.

On last Tuesday (30), the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) received an institutional visit from the U.S. Consulate General in Porto Alegre, represented by Consul General Jason Green, at its Carreiros campus. The agenda focused on learning about FURG's spaces dedicated to technological development and innovation, especially the OpenLab, in addition to enabling dialogue about internationalization and academic partnerships with American institutions.

Welcomed by Vice-Rector Ednei Primel, the Consul was accompanied by the Secretary of International Relations, Dariano Krummenauer; the Pro-Rectors of Innovation and Information Technology, Sílvia Botelho, and of Research and Graduate Studies, Daiane Dias; the Vice-Director of the Science and Technology Park, Marcelo Pias; the administrative technician from Reinter, Maurício Terra; and the Secretary of Environmental Management, Felipe Kessler.

According to Krummenauer, the Consul General's visit was extremely important for deepening the long-lasting partnership between FURG and the United States, consolidating a dialogue that has for years contributed to the institution's scientific and technological advancement. "A large part of FURG's research is inspired by the North American model of doing science and transferring the generated technology to the productive chain and communities," he says. Furthermore, the Secretary highlighted the exchange of knowledge and the export of Brazilian technology to American universities and research centers as fruits of this partnership.
