FURG establishes partnership with the Virginia Tech Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center

Last Wednesday (17), the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) took an important step in its internationalization process by signing a Cooperation Agreement with the Virginia Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a research and extension center affiliated with Virginia Tech, one of the leading universities in the United States.

The agreement, valid for five years with the possibility of renewal, aims to strengthen bilateral collaboration between Brazil and the United States, promoting the integration of activities and programs of mutual interest in the areas of teaching, research, and extension.

Among the main actions planned are: exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, researchers, and technical staff; development of joint projects in research, education, and technological innovation; organization and participation in scientific events, seminars, and symposia; sharing of laboratory infrastructure and research resources when possible and of mutual interest; and the exploration of joint programs that may lead to dual degrees, in accordance with institutional regulations.

With this initiative, FURG reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation and strengthens its position as a reference in connecting Brazilian and international institutions for scientific and educational development.
