FURG and UTAD (Portugal) Sign International Cooperation Agreement

 

The Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) has recently formalized a new Academic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation Agreement with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. The initiative to establish this strategic partnership was led by the IIMEF/FURG, seeking to expand internationalization opportunities for the academic community.

 

The agreement aims to strengthen the ties between the two institutions through the development of joint activities of mutual interest. Among the possibilities provided for in the agreement, the following stand out:

  • Academic Mobility: Exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, researchers, and administrative staff.

  • Research and Extension Projects: Collaboration on joint projects, including the search for international funding and the sharing of research infrastructure.

  • Academic Cooperation: Development of double-degree programs, supervision and co-supervision of Master’s and Doctoral theses, and participation in examination boards.

  • Continuing Education: Implementation of courses and training programs in both in-person and distance learning formats.

  • Events and Dissemination: Promotion of scientific events, seminars, and the exchange of bibliographic material.

 

With a five-year term, the agreement establishes the foundation for joint work across diverse areas of knowledge.
