FUNAG launches award for Black authors on foreign policy and international relations

The Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG), linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced the first edition of the Mônica de Menezes Campos Award — a groundbreaking initiative aimed at valuing Brazilian Black authors and researchers, whether residing in Brazil or abroad, who produce scientific articles on foreign policy and international relations.

With a prize of R$ 6,000.00 for the top entry in each category, the contest includes two modalities: one for undergraduate students or graduates in any field, and another for researchers holding a master’s or doctoral degree.

In addition to the cash prize, the winning articles will be published in FUNAG's Cadernos de Política Exterior journal. The initiative also includes honorable mentions, certificates, and academic visits to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Applications will be open from August 11 to 22, 2025, exclusively through an online form available on FUNAG’s website. Participants must submit an unpublished article (15 to 20 pages) along with documents such as an ethnic-racial self-declaration, proof of education, and identification.
