On February 26, the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) expanded its academic partnerships in Latin America by signing an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement with the Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores, a higher education institution based in Bogotá, Colombia.
Valid for five years, with the possibility of renewal, the agreement establishes a broad partnership for the joint development of activities and projects in the areas of research, extension, and knowledge transfer to society, focusing on topics of mutual interest.
The cooperation includes the training and development of human resources, the exchange of scientific and technical information, and the mobility of faculty members and students between the two institutions. Among the activities outlined in the agreement are consulting and advisory collaboration, joint research and extension projects, personnel exchanges, and the sharing of available research outcomes.
The agreement also encourages innovative teaching methodologies, such as guest specialists in classrooms, mirror classes, and COIL projects (Collaborative Online International Learning). In addition, the partnership foresees the joint organization of courses, seminars, conferences, and other academic, cultural, and social outreach events, as well as the issuance of certificates and diplomas to participants, in accordance with applicable regulations.
This partnership represents another step in FURG’s internationalization strategy, strengthening academic ties with higher education institutions in Colombia and expanding opportunities for students, professors, and researchers within the university community.
