FAPERGS launches call for international master’s scholarships through the Talentos Globais RS Program

The Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS), the State Secretariat for Innovation, Science and Technology (SICT), and the Instituto Trajetórias have launched the call for applications for the Talentos Globais Rio Grande do Sul – Trajetórias Program. The initiative aims to support high-level international education by offering scholarships for full master’s degree programs at leading universities abroad.

The program’s main objective is to expand the presence of Brazilian talent in international master’s programs, strengthening global cooperation and encouraging participants to return and apply their knowledge to the scientific, technological, and socioeconomic development of Rio Grande do Sul.

Applications are open until April 8, 2026. Interested candidates must submit all required documentation exclusively online through the SigFapergs system.

In this edition, up to 20 candidates residing in the state will be selected. Successful applicants will receive a monthly scholarship for one to two years, a one-time relocation allowance to help cover initial expenses such as travel and accommodation, and tuition discounts at partner universities of Instituto Trajetórias, such as Yale, Imperial College London, and the London School of Economics (LSE).

Applicants must meet the following requirements: hold a completed undergraduate degree by the date of the call publication; have initiated the application process or already hold an offer/admission letter for an in-person master’s program at a leading international university; provide proof of residence in the state of Rio Grande do Sul issued within the last 90 days; submit a motivation letter, a statement demonstrating alignment with priority thematic areas (such as climate change, health, education, public policy, and STEM), and a study plan; and commit to returning to Brazil after completing the program to apply the acquired knowledge.

Interested candidates can find the full call and all details about the selection process on the official FAPERGS website.
