European Union and Brazil launch call to fund research on water and health

The European Partnership for Water Security (Water4All) has launched the 2025 Joint Transnational Call, entitled “Water and Health.” The initiative, carried out within the framework of the European Union’s research and innovation program Horizon Europe, aims to fund projects that address major challenges at the intersection of water resources and human health.

The call will focus on topics such as water quality, the presence of emerging contaminants, and the development of new treatment technologies. The ultimate goal is to generate positive impacts on public health and water security through scientific and technological solutions.

Brazil participates in this initiative through the National Council of State Research Support Foundations (CONFAP). Brazilian researchers affiliated with higher education and research institutions may take part by forming consortia with partners from European countries. Approved projects with Brazilian participation will be funded by the State Research Support Foundations (FAPs) that join the call.

  • Deadline for pre-proposal submission: November 13, 2025

  • Deadline for full proposal submission: April 13, 2026

Researchers interested in participating can find detailed information about the call, eligibility criteria, and the participating FAPs on the official CONFAP website.
