RMIT Europe has announced the opening of the second call for the international Australia–Spain Network for Innovation and Research Excellence (AuSpire) program, a postdoctoral training initiative co-funded by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Applications are open until January 26, 2026.
The program offers postdoctoral fellowships with a 36-month contract in Spain, as well as funded research missions of up to 12 months in Australia or in partner research centers in Spain. The initiative aims to train researchers in cutting-edge fields aligned with the concept of Planetary Wellbeing.
Coordinated by RMIT Europe, AuSpire brings together supervisors from 23 research centers, companies, and universities, forming an international network focused on scientific excellence and cross-sector collaboration.
The program includes research areas such as comparative genomics, computational materials science, underwater laser communication, nature-based wastewater treatment, nanotechnologies, and mental health ecosystem design, among others.
One highlighted position is “Role of Biomineralising Microplankton in Carbon and Iron Removal in the Southern Ocean”, which involves research topics such as biogeochemical cycles, carbon sequestration, ocean acidification, iron cycling, diatoms, coccolithophores, plankton ecology, and paleo-reconstructions.

Researchers of any nationality may apply, provided they have completed their PhD and have not resided or carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 12 months in the past three years. Selected fellows are expected to begin their activities in June 2026.
