As part of the program of the V International Forum on Human Rights of the AUGM Human Rights Chair, the Working Groups (WGs) will take place entirely on December 3, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in Building 5 of FURG’s Carreiros Campus. In the document made available at the end of this text, you will find the list of coordinators and other information about each WG.
The WGs are organized into five thematic axes:
WG1 – Environmental Education and Climate Emergencies (Room 5201)
Coordinated by specialists from Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil, this group will discuss practices, pedagogical challenges, and public policies related to environmental education, as well as its connections with human rights.
WG2 – Environmental Justice, Social Inequalities, and Environmental Racism (Room 5202)
This WG will address the disproportionate impacts of climate crises on vulnerable populations, discussing the distribution of environmental risks, social inequalities, and the effects of environmental racism.
WG3 – Human Rights, Climate Emergencies, and Gender (Room 5203)
With an intersectional and decolonial approach, the group will examine gender inequalities exacerbated by climate emergencies, as well as experiences of resistance and female leadership in environmental defense.
WG4 – University Outreach in Times of Climate Emergencies (Room 5204)
This WG will bring together outreach actions and experiences aimed at promoting sustainability, dialogue of knowledge systems, social technologies, and community strengthening in the face of environmental crises.
WG5 – Human Rights, Emergencies of the Rights of Nature, and Public Policies (Room 5205)
This group will discuss the recognition of Nature as a subject of rights, alternatives to traditional development models, and public policy challenges in confronting climate-related catastrophes.
