AUGM International Forum on Human Rights announces selected papers for presentation

The 5th International Forum on Human Rights of the AUGM Chair has released the list of approved abstracts for the Working Groups (WGs) of the 2025 edition, which will take place from December 2 to 4 at FURG’s Carreiros Campus. The event will bring together researchers and representatives from various Latin American universities to discuss the theme “Human Rights and Climate Emergencies.”

The presentations cover a wide range of topics — environmental education, climate justice, gender, and social vulnerability — reflecting the diversity of perspectives and experiences within the Latin American academic community. Among the selected works are research and experience reports addressing issues such as the impacts of the 2024 floods in Rio Grande do Sul, as well as discussions on rights of nature, environmental racism, and climate governance.

The Working Groups, which will take place in Building 5, are organized into five thematic areas:

  • WG 1: Environmental Education and Climate Emergencies — Rooms 5201 (Dec 3) and 5206 (Dec 4)

  • WG 2: Environmental Justice, Social Inequalities and Environmental Racism — Room 5202

  • WG 3: Human Rights, Climate Emergencies and Gender — Room 5203

  • WG 4: University Extension in Times of Climate Emergencies — Room 5204

  • WG 5: Human Rights, Emergencies of the Rights of Nature and Public Policies — Room 5205
