REINTER participates in the Opening of the Third Edition of Africa Week at CEAFURG

As a supporter of the event organized by CEAFURG, REINTER was present on the first day of the celebration.

On Monday morning (May 26), the Third Edition of Africa Week began, an event organized by the Collective of African Students at FURG. The event takes place on May 26, 27, and 28, with activities at the Carreiros Campus and the Santa Vitória do Palmar Campus. The official opening, held at the SEAD Auditorium, was attended by the Municipal Secretary of Culture, the President of the City Council, and representatives from REINTER, SECOM, SECAID, and other supporting FURG departments.
The event featured a performance by Cape Verdean artist Edneia Brazão.

This year's theme is "Pan-Africanism: Unity, Resistance, and Rights in Building an Inclusive Africa." On the first day, the program included several cultural activities celebrating the history and identity of African peoples. In the morning, attendees enjoyed the official opening, musical performances representing various African genres, dance, poetry, the African anthem, and a tasting of traditional African foods. In the afternoon, the program continued with a roundtable discussion titled "Black Collectives and Their Experiences: Challenges Faced in the University for Their Maintenance and Affirmation."

Maurício Terra, representing REINTER on the panel of supporting entities, thanked the collective for allowing REINTER to be part of Africa Week since its first edition. "I am very happy to see that, year after year, the auditorium is increasingly full and we have more and more participation. It shows that our work is going as planned," he said.

He emphasized that REINTER's role is to ensure that internationalization happens not only outside but also within the campus.
"It is very important to us that international students, and especially African students, have representation at the university. We are very happy to support you in having a space to share your culture and to identify with the university, just as the university should also identify with you," Maurício concluded.

The Africa Week program continues in the following days with lectures, roundtable discussions, cultural presentations—including African dance and poetry—and a project exhibition.
