O evento, organizado pelo GCUB (Grupo de Cooperação Internacional de Universidades Brasileiras), ocorreu de 23 a 27 de outubro de 2023, com o tema "Higher Education for Global Citizenship".
O GCUB tem desempenhado um papel crucial na interligação das universidades brasileiras com instituições de ensino ao redor do mundo, e sua XVI Assembleia Geral e XIII Seminário Internacional não são exceção. Durante o encontro, foi lançado um informativo especial, o qual destaca a relevância da Ciência e Pesquisa na Suíça, como um país que investe proeminentemente em pesquisa e desenvolvimento, mais precisamente mais de 22 bilhões de francos.
A Suíça não apenas investe pesadamente em pesquisa e desenvolvimento, mas também é reconhecida mundialmente por sua excelência em educação e inovação, como evidenciado por seu quinto lugar no relatório de competitividade global do Fórum Econômico Mundial (WEF) de 2019 e seu primeiro lugar no Índice Global de Inovação de 2019. Para a FURG, a participação neste evento foi de suma importância. Não apenas colocando a universidade em um cenário global, mas também permitindo a troca de experiências e conhecimento com instituições de renome internacional, reforçando o compromisso da FURG com a educação de qualidade, inovação e colaboração internacional.
O evento também ofereceu uma oportunidade destacada para a FURG estabelecer novas parcerias, fortalecer relações existentes e explorar novas fronteiras na educação e na pesquisa.
